Assessment and pilot

Start with one workflow. Prove it before you commit.

A fixed-scope assessment of the system behind one business priority, a bounded pilot that rebuilds and proves that workflow, then a renewal plan built on evidence rather than estimates.

  • Fee agreed before any work starts
  • A System Specification you keep, whatever you decide
  • No commitment beyond the pilot

Fabrica is a proposed service in development. Scope, fees and terms are agreed after the first conversation and assessment.

What happens

Four steps, each with a clear decision point.

01 · 30 minutes · no charge

Introductory call

One priority, the system behind it and the constraints on changing it. No production access needed.

02 · fixed scope and fee

Assessment

With read-only access and time from your owners, we map the workflow, its data and reports, and agree what counts as enough evidence to build.

03 · one bounded workflow

Pilot

Observe, specify, build and prove that workflow against the running system, then shift it with acceptance criteria and rollback.

04 · recurring scope

Renewal plan

If the pilot earns it, a plan for the next priorities with agreed capacity, reporting and exit terms.

What you get

The assessment leaves you with evidence, not a sales deck.

Whatever you decide afterwards, the assessment produces material your team can use: a first specification of how the workflow behaves today and an honest view of what it would take to renew it.

  • A first System Specification for the chosen scope: rules, inputs and outputs, data relationships, exceptions and acceptance criteria
  • A coverage and confidence view: what is known, what has not been observed yet and what needs owner review
  • A pilot plan with acceptance criteria, a data transition approach and whether any freeze is needed
  • A recommendation, including when not to rebuild
  • A price for the pilot and an outline of the recurring plan

While an allocation has no rate card, the system shall flag the invoice line as unbillable rather than invoicing at zero.

Each rule in the specification is written so it can be tested, and linked to its evidence.

What the pilot measures

Numbers from your own system.

We would rather show you results from your system than ask you to trust ours. The pilot records the things a renewal plan depends on, against a baseline you agree.

  • Time from kickoff to an approved specification
  • Freeze days required, if any, and for what scope
  • Differences found in proof and how quickly they close
  • Rework caused by rules discovered late
  • Cost and throughput compared with your current approach

Questions

About the assessment

How much does the assessment cost?

The fee depends on the size of the workflow and is agreed before any work starts. We can give you a likely range on the first call.

What access do you need?

None for the first call. The assessment needs read-only access to code, schema and available analytics, agreed with your technical team. Sensitive payloads are redacted before analysis.

What if the pilot shows we shouldn't rebuild?

Then that is the result, and we will say so. You keep the specification and the evidence, which are useful whatever you decide.

Which systems can you assess?

We are starting with web applications built on Ruby on Rails. Java, .NET, PHP and Django systems can be discussed on request.
